About the Campaign
Menstrual poverty remains a silent barrier to education for thousands of rural school girls. Every month, many girls are forced to miss school, not because they lack the ability or motivation to learn, but because they cannot afford basic sanitary wear. This reality undermines girls’ education, dignity, self-confidence and long-term opportunities. Ending Period Poverty for Rural School Girls is a targeted crowdfunding initiative designed to address this challenge by providing safe, hygienic, and reliable sanitary pads to girls in rural and underserved communities. The project focuses on keeping girls in school during their menstrual cycles, reducing absenteeism, and ensuring that menstruation does not become a reason for exclusion or shame. Beyond distribution, the initiative will incorporate menstrual health education, helping girls understand their bodies, practice safe hygiene and break harmful cultural taboos surrounding menstruation. Where possible, the project will work closely with schools, parents and community leaders to create supportive environments that protect girls’ rights and well-being. It will work with schools to come up with reusable saniatry pads sewing project at the school. As such, by supporting this campaign, donors are investing directly in girls’ education, health and empowerment. Every contribution helps a girl attend school with dignity, concentrate in class, and pursue her dreams without interruption. Ending period poverty is not just a health intervention, it is a powerful step toward gender equality and inclusive development.
